About this deal

Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 1st November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) Normally I don't suggest letting automated room EQ fix the speaker but in this case, I would let it beat it into shape. Paul W. Klipsch founds Klipsch and Associates, and patents his design for the famous Klipschorn corner loudspeaker. This original design, along with Peter Walker's original Quad electrostatic loudspeaker (1957), marked the beginnings of high-fidelity home audio as we know it today. The illustrious Quad ESL was discontinued in 1985. At the Klipsch factory in Hope, Arkansas, the legendary Klipschorn is still being manufactured, 73 years after its launch. A vented tweeter design reduces standing waves behind the tweeter diaphragm for a smoother high frequency reproduction.

Directivity (on and off-axis similarity) looks very good though. In theory then, that dip would be one we can fill in with equalization. Enter the LXminis. INSTANT sweetness! Without having to break anything in…or out. Even SWMBO fell in love with them. Of course, the downside of that is now I've got to share listening time. :( The diaphragm made of Titanium metal is housed in such a way that it forces it to have a piston-like motion. Klipsch had first begun this in the more expensive speakers that they sold known as Linear Travel Suspension. A couple others have come and gone. Real HARD room. No treatment possible right now in this shared space. At a time when some might argue the standmount market is becoming a little too homogeneous, the Klipsch RP-600M's 'warts and all' approach to music-making is nothing if not distinctive. This is a genuine, old school 'character loudspeaker'.

All measurements are reference to tweeter axis with the grill removed. Frequency resolution is 2.7 Hz. Over 1000 measurement points were used to assure high precision in higher frequencies. The RP-600M efficiency is rated at 96db, which is pretty high. One can easily drive them with a lesser-powered amp or a receiver and even then have the room around you filled with huge sound. Performance Klipsch award-winning Linear Travel Suspension technology leverages a piston motion of the titanium diaphragm that lowers distortion and delivers real-to-life sound. Who doesn’t enjoy good music quality to enjoy whether throughout the day or just for a bit of time?

The RP-600M's sensitivity is specified as an extraordinarily high 96dB/W/m, its frequency response as 45Hz–25kHz, ±3dB. Chester Rice and E.W. Kellogg develop the first direct-radiating dynamic loudspeakers, based on principles that are standard-issue in most speakers made for domestic use today (footnote 1). You can just set them down for great sound quality, but it is even better when you set them up. Once you spend some time with these beauties, you will understand why they are getting so much attention and appreciation from the internet folks! Final Verdict Fun but flawed is a good way to describe Klipsch’s RP-600M – with the caveat, of course, being that every speaker is the latter, but not all are the former. Rather like an American muscle car, it has a delightfully simple, unselfconscious love of life – it’s there to enjoy things, whatever. Many will like this little loudspeaker, but it isn’t as universally appealing as some of its more mainstream price rivals, so it’s important you try before you buy. DP

Titanium dome tweeters have been out of fashion for a while now. Yet the Klipsch’s 25mm unit is aided and abetted by Tractrix horn loading, and proves a game changer. It’s a Klipsch trademark and here it confers greater sensitivity upon the tweeter and helps sound propagate out into the room better. At 1.5kHz it crosses over to the mid/bass unit, which looks very colourful with its 165mm spun copper Cerametallic cone. This is claimed to be stiffer and less prone to break up than conventional cones.
