I think you are going to have to test it on a piece of scrap, unfortunately I don’t have one here to have a look at. But I know that everything is wonky (technical term lol) on the corner cabinets, even the soft close mechanisms are special. One final point is that with a partially inset door you will in most cases have to add the depth of the inset to the normal 36mm recess for the mounting plate (more on this below). Our Concealed Hinge Template Jig is the perfect solution to prevent struggles when attempting drilling locations for our range of concealed cabinet hinges. It is only suitable for cup sizes 26mm and 35mm. Please note that this Jig is only suitable for overlay installation only and cannot be used for bureau type hinges.

Using a carpenters square, mark a line using a pencil from the door edge across the line created in the above step. The point that they cross is exactly where you need to drill out the hinge cup recess. If your hinge plates are already fitted on the carcase you need to mark a line on the carcase where the centre of the hinge is. Then offer the door up to the edge of the carcase at the height you need it to be, usually about 5mm underneath the worktop and transfer the lines to the door. The concealed cabinet hinge is in most cases the go-to hinge to use when fitting kitchen cabinet doors or fitted bathroom cabinet doors. As the name suggests, the concealed cabinet hinge is fitted to the rear of a cabinet door and to the inside of the cabinet making it invisible from the outside for a clean and professional finish. To successfully fit a concealed hinge to a cabinet and door you will need the following tools and materials:When choosing new concealed hinges always go for the best quality you can afford. Cheap hinges will certainly do a job but the metal tends to be quite thin so they twist and flex easily causing them to drop under the weight of the door. It was on the few cabinets I measured David. It’s only critical if you’re using standard, pre-drilled IKEA doors (set for the 48mm). Tony commented below that some doors he had were 62mm, (so I’d get the doors first…). If you’re using your own doors, then it doesn’t really matter where the hinges are, as long as the hinge position on the cabinet are lined up with the holes in the door. p.p.p.s! I found this today too… thingiverse.com which shows the hole positions for the Blum hinges too… If you are simply replacing one concealed hinge with a new one then it’s always best to swap like-for-like.

Hinge and Mounting Plate Jig - Cup Sizes 26/35mm

The other commonly used size of concealed hinge is 26mm. These hinges are a fair bit smaller than the 35mm hinges so are commonly used on the smaller more light weight cupboards and units normally found in bathrooms. Hi Marco, there are no templates as the holes are drilled by machine in the factory obviously. I’d just fit the cabinet part of the hinge into the cabinet and then hold the door up against the cabinet and mark the center of the hinge onto the door. Then you should be able to use the measurements in the post above to get the exact place for the hole. You can be a fraction out and still be okay as there is of course some adjustment in the hinge itself. With each different type of door there are a few points to be aware of – With a fully inset door you will need to raise the mounting plate off of the inner face of the cabinet to allow for the offset of the cup and the overhanging edge of the door.

If the door you have just fitted is a finished door e.g. doesn’t need painting, the final job to do is to now rub off any remaining pencil marks using a rubber. If it’s being painted don’t worry, the paint will hide any remaining marks. Use the tables below to work out how many hinges you will need to install to the cabinet door you are fitting to ensure it opens and closes correctly and more importantly doesn’t sag. Additionally it is not advised to hang particularly heavy doors using only 26mm concealed hinges. Anything really over 5kg’s should be hung using 35mm hinges instead. Fitting new Concealed Hinges or Replacing Existing I’m going to test a board, but I think the female portion of the hinge needs to go in deeper than the 20mm for corner cabinets.
