The anime adaptation was a huge disappointment. I don't understand for what reason they changed the story, characters, and art style in the adaptation. They might as well call it a separate anime. And if you for a split second thought that they improved the bad sides of the manga, making it easier to follow or making female characters more deeply written, you are wrong. The spell effects are quite nice, using some 3D effects that don't hurt the eyes. Overall animations are fine, though you won't see any crazy combat movements or anything. All the expected clichés are out in full force. When it comes to the characters, we have an overpowered protagonist who can easily stomp even the most dangerous of enemies. Then we have the harem of girls obsessed with him—each fitting into the classic archetypes of the ojousan, the tsundere, the dandere, and the oneesan. We also get the good guy's best friend and the self-important rival who looks down on Ray for his commoner blood to round out the cast. The MC is basically the perfect man, which is something I do find enjoyable in a show. I'm tired of all the losers that litter the anime industry, as if the only way to get people to watch anime is to make an MC who's as miserable of a person as the demographic watching them.
