As expected, there is a happy ending which ties everything together nicely - it was enjoyable to witness Meg's journey come full circle by the end of the book. One Enchanted Evening is set in the 1960s, I did love the descriptions of Nightingale Woods hotel in the beautiful countryside of Dorset. When Meg meets the owner’s son, Justin, it is clear that he has already consigned the hotel to the rubbish heap.

Creating beautiful dishes at the cookery school, she also appeared in A Wedding in Provence with a showstopper cake that proved to be far superior to anything that a local pâtissier could produce. The hotel is charming, a place I’d love to stay at with its welcoming and homely feel and beautiful location.

Go on treat yourself to a copy of this you won’t regret it, plus if you have a mum who likes this genre, Mother’s Day is coming up. It all added to the beauty of this book though, making it a great all round package and again has left me wanting more. I have read loads of this authors books many years ago and I saw this one on NetGalley and remembered loving her books so I put in my request.v=1699456685","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":28450902147227,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. Katie lives in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England with her husband, some of her three children and many pets. v=1677516281","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":27763094683803,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. The 1960s setting, and his ambivalent feelings towards his father, totally explains Justin's attitude to Meg and her mother, yet it is also quite clear to the reader fairly early on that Justin is also quite smitten by Meg and finds any excuse to visit the hotel. There is a welcome visit to picturesque Provence to add to the fun, and an intriguing look back at courageous deeds of the past too.

Of course, there are cameos from the other key characters and it was a treat to learn more about their ongoing lives. Everything about this book beautifully evokes rural 1960s England, and Fforde does a lovely job of immersing you in the world of a family business struggling to keep up with the modern age. She hotfoots it there, happy to help out, even when Justin, the son of the owner, turns up and is rather rude to her, especially about women in the kitchen (he’s a chef too). It's Justin, the owner's son, a chef in his own right, who seems determined to find fault with everything Meg has done.Andrew’s son, Justin, is only a short distance away so she can ask him if she needs to make any decisions, only problem is Justin thinks Louise is a gold digger and is after his father for money or the hotel. What I thoroughly loved about this story was the twist though, especially as it involved my favourite character. Shame it doesn't seem to be the case for the owner's son, who firmly believes that women shouldn't be in charge of a professional kitchen at all. Fforde never disappoints' Weekly'This is the perfect Mother's Day read' Take a Break'This enjoyable read will appeal to die-hard romantics' Heat Magazine___________Ever since she can remember, Meg has wanted to be a professional cook.
