Finally we get a mission pack of 9 missions – the mission pack concept is something we have seen in multiple systems and is a great way for GW to put out additional content on a regular basis. You’ll notice that Australia and New Zealand do not yet have a scheduled release – that’s due to the lockdown in Australia, which is affecting our distribution hub. Heads up, though: Kill Team has been rebuilt from the ground up, so there’s going to be a lot to talk about. I guess there’s nothing to stop you from converting the pants off your chosen Fire Teams, but it’s not quite the same as having unique figures and units making up your team.

Combat Gauges: The new edition of Kill Team uses a simplified measurement system to create fast, dynamic games.

GW probably has entire warehouses full of the things, so you can hardly blame them for wanting to get rid of a few at every possible opportunity. s fast, reactive alternating activations, the constant passing back and forth of one shared book of unit stats gets immersion-breakingly annoying very quickly.

Next up we have the Plastic Ork Kommandos, and again these are absolutely dripping with character – Sadly my frantic week of painting and review writing didn’t leave me enough time to finish these guys before the article had to go live, I did manage to build them up to show what they look like assembled!Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. Actually putting together those krazy Kommandos was as frustrating an experience as I’ve had assembling Warhammer models in a long time, with each model’s constituent parts apparently scattered at random across three medium-sized sprues. This is where Kill Team comes in – a way of playing games of Warhammer 40,000 at a much smaller scale but with a greater level of detail. And they’ll do it all from your personal Base of Operations – to which you’ll bring back rare weaponry as loot after hard-won missions.

The Core Book is your general, all-inclusive rules manual, whilst the Octarius Book contains all the extra bits you can use for playing your game in this particular Kill team setting. Once an operative has lost half their wounds they also reduce their movement, BS and WS to represent them being on their last legs!I’ve not had the chance to absorb its every delicious option yet, but this persistent campaign system – obviously built from the same materials as Warhammer 40k 9th Edition’s Crusade mode – is pregnant with potential for fantastic emergent storytelling. If the Kill Team Roadmap is anything to go by, these rules probably won’t appear until well into the future and will require you to spend more money to obtain.

In the Twenty-First Century, it seems that no TTRPG, wargame, or any derivative thereof, can be considered complete without a staggering amount of push-out cardboard tokens for you to lose under the sofa cover your gaming table with. We have also filmed a full video review and unboxing – so if you rather watch your review content you can check that out just below and over on YouTube! The iconic, shovel-wielding and gas mask-toting Death Korps of Krieg take on the ruthless and kunnin’ Ork Kommandos in the new edition Kill Team: Octarius box set. Edit: Wow thanks guys, this hobby is super confusing when first starting out and you've helped a lot! Kill Team Octarius is an outstanding set, not only does it contain some stunning miniatures such as the new Ork terrain, Kommandos and plastic Death Korps, but it is also a much needed refresh of the Kill Team.As always, this’d look great in a frame or tacked up on a hobby room wall – if it survives transit without any major scratches or punctures. Finally after deployment there is the scouting phase where essentially you pick from Fortify, Infiltrate and Recon each having a different benefit but each also beating a different choice as in rock, paper scissors.
