Pretty firm off the face, loud at impact, high launch, maybe a very slight loss in distance if any, and more unintentional shot shape than I’m used to. The overall feel is a bit firm from the Kirkland ball, and I prefer other golf balls with a little less firmness. In the end, I feel like the Pro V1 is actually more responsive from a range of lies inside 50 yards.

The question is, has the new design improved performance at both ends of the bag and if so, is it one of the best cheap golf balls on the market? The Kirkland Signature was not hard, but it felt a little less premium, especially on centered strikes. I assume the balls are completely machine made from start to finish so you wouldn’t assume there was a lot of difference though I suppose the raw materials could be sourced from new places as well. Although this is a subjective opinion, I find the feel of the Kirkland balls to be harder than Titleist Pro V1s. I can’t tell you exactly what changed with the Kirkland Signature Performance Plus golf ball, but I found this iteration of the 3-piece to be much better off of the tee.

You can see from the data vs the Pro V1s that the Kirkland balls do spin more than a Pro V1 off the tee (around a 10% increase), meaning a little loss in distance, but not a killer.In our testing we were impressed by the feel and spin control around the greens but additional spin off the tee cost us distance. Throughout the rest of the round, I noticed that the Kirkland Signature golf balls respond well when conditions are ideal for high spin and they really work well with full wedge shots. Spin on the driver and approach shot is one thing, but spin around the greens needs to be considered as well. Given that it was off the tee where the original version of this ball had the most room for improvement, let’s start with the driver performance.
