I am not sure why he used shamanic healing techniques from time to time when he clearly had the ability to speak healing into people without touching them but I suspect it was for teaching purposes. The addition of planetary and other attributions , and the titles to the minor arcana, are a great bonus. Not your 'usual' tarot - but definitely, I think, one for those who have spiritual interests in other directions - this deck and book certainly won't disappoint. It also makes some of the easily missed background elements of the RWS more prominent, such as the tower in the background of the Five of Cups; I’d forgotten that the tower was there as it’s so tiny in the RWS.

However, the Heaven and Earth Tarot is also suitable for those people who want to get acquainted with the Crowley deck, but are not yet confident in their abilities. All suits of the Heaven and Earth Tarot deck, as well as the group of Major Arcana, are designed in the same style.The images of two of the kings seemed to me be the only failure - one (swords) looks as if he had just got out of the bath, and another (penatacles) appears to be wearing a ladies' nightdress.
