About this deal

The book's sequel, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, was written by Dahl in 1971 and published in 1972.

In July 2017, an animated film Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released in which the titular cat and mouse were put into the story of the 1971 film. K. Rowling (author of the Harry Potter books) named Charlie and the Chocolate Factory among her top ten books that every child should read. It had a curious taste which reminded him of cheese, tulips and something he couldn't name, but somehow it was quite delicious. He was like a squirrel in the quickness of his movements, like a quick clever old squirrel from the park.

The Charlie Bucket book series by Roald Dahl includes books Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory / Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. you can be an adult and still find his books enjoyable because they allow you to tap into your inner child which, I believe, is always present within us all.

As an adult, I can see some of the themes that Dahl seeks to instil in his readers, about fate, greed, gluttony, and patience. If Willie Wonka actually hired workers and paid them a living wage, maybe Charlie Bucket wouldn't be starving to death in the first place. The real surprise (for me) is that I can't give this a 5-star review because simply, for one of the first times in my life I can say that the movie is better. Charlie’s Grandpa Joe, a steadfast companion in spite of his age and physical infirmities, immediately volunteers to accompany Charlie on the visit to the chocolate factory; and on the appointed day, at the appointed time, they meet the other four lucky winners and their parents – and an unfortunate lot they are.
