Where Code Members contract with Consumers to undertake work that is not paid for by credit card, they must provide the Consumer with an insurance policy in line with Section 7.3 below. However, further research in this area has helped uncover the limiting unbalance conditions, and the amount of imbalance required may be quite surprising. the IET Committee developing the IET Standard for open-PEN disconnection devices (OPDDs), which will shortly be available for public consultation. It sets out the considerations and planning needed in advance and then covers the necessary physical and electrical requirements during the installation process. A Consumer’s cancellation rights vary depending on whether the contract is considered to have been agreed on or away from trade premises or entirely at a distance.
