The Romer-Gs aren't for everyone; some seasoned gamers will turn up their noses at anything not made by Cherry, and I didn't find a huge difference in feel between the Tactile and Linear. This is an excellent choice for gamers, as it has customizable RGB backlighting, a comfortable wrist rest, and the tactile switches on our unit offer a light and responsive gaming experience. With the G513, Logitech has made many improvements to the keyboard and I am happy to say that the new G513 is an almost perfect keyboard. While speed and comfort during longer play sessions certainly did the G513 proud in my testing, the overall typing experience was less impressive.

The palmrest, which is included in the box, is made out of a hard plastic bottom part covered with memory foam and a leather top layer. They have a very short pre-travel distance and require very little force to actuate, making them feel responsive and light. G513 is a high-performance gaming keyboard featuring your choice of advanced Romer-G Tactile, Romer-G Linear and GX Blue mechanical switches.Personalize lighting for each individual key, customize lighting effects, and enjoy in-game integrations from a spectrum of ~16. After a few days of Romer-G pecking, I found the typing experience equally pleasant to the gaming one, and realized that this keyboard is held back only by its lack of dedicated macro or media keys. Most of LGS's functionality is divided into four categories, each represented by a simple icon on the lower right side of the screen.

It doesn't have wireless connectivity, so you'll need to run a cable from the couch to the computer, which isn't ideal if you're worried about tripping over wires. This update adds several new tests addressing Hardware Customization, Macro Keys And Programming, and Wireless Mobile Compatibility. There are some minor differences between Logitech's Romer-G and Razer's Orange switches, but overall, they perform very similarly for gaming. We've also added new objective evaluations to the Typing Noise test, and we've simplified several tests and removed several others that were no longer relevant. On my quest to find a worthy successor to the recently departed Corsair Vengeance K70 mechanical keyboard (which did not last as long as I had hoped), I have encountered what is certainly the best keyboard that I have ever used so far: The Logitech G513!

Create it in Windows, save it to the keyboard, and you can use that preset anywhere — even in Linux! The key switches may have special appeal for those who aren't satisfied by the half-dozen or so flavors of Cherry switch in common circulation. The Razer has more extra features, like dedicated media controls and onboard memory, which the Logitech lacks. This isn’t a dealbreaker by any measure but a lack of dedicated media keys in a gaming keyboard in 2019 feels like a terrible missed opportunity. Personally, I never use these faceted key caps because I don’t use my keyboard solely for gaming but also for typing these reviews etc… but it is a nice addition for those hardcore gamers out there. The Logitech Gaming Software can be used for managing all Logitech accessories, such as mice, keyboards, and headsets. They were developed in collaboration with Omron, the same company that makes the premium button switches tucked inside some higher-end gaming mice, such as the HyperX Pulsefire FPS and the Cougar Surpassion. I really don't care about RGB so much, it's just a shame this keyboard feels nice but is ultimately poor quality long-term.
